A weekly gathering of smugglers with products to move and traders unscrupulous enough to help them, usually in the southern Harbor Ward or northern Sunset Ward. Here, buyers can find all manner of items frowned upon by polite society. Despite the rogue's gallery of dangerous individuals who gather here (many of whom would spill each other's blood in broad daylight), all of the market's vendors strictly forbid violence upon the market grounds.

It appears Lord Calix may have some connection to Ophile.

At some point before the start of our story, and for reasons unknown, Lord Hypatia wrote a letter summoning Ophile Evenstar to Vesper Ridge. Aside from their shared elven ancestry, any connection between the two is unknown.

A maid in service of the esteemed House Vespridge. Her clothing is fine and dignified, but her eyes are frightfully, inhumanly dark. Our party came across her locked in combat with a strange mechanical figure, and helped her defeat it. After the battle, she introduced herself without making eye contact, shared a bit of knowledge about the nobility, and warned Margot to be careful with the Gloaming Lantern.

A mysterious device Margot recovered from the burning customs bureau at the start of our story. Deeply magical, it produces its own light without an apparent fuel source, and seems to react to the thoughts or emotions of its bearer. Through careful study and meditation, Margot has gained a rudimentary attunement to the lantern, but its purpose, and much of its power, is as of yet unknown.

In Vesperite society, which shuns and distrusts elves, this choice of heir was highly controversial, and there is still much gossip and speculation among the aristocracy as to the late Lord Hypatia’s motives for such a choice. One popular theory is that Calix was chosen because an elf’s centuries-long lifespan will afford him ample time to build a large family and ensure House Hypatia’s continued prosperity.

Less frightening than the cave horrors but equally mysterious are the scattered remains of what appear to be ancient ritual sites, religious shrines, and other unidentified structures dotting some deep Labyrinth tunnels. As there was no mention of the Labyrinth in recorded Hallowed Lands history prior to the earthquakes that revealed the caves to the surface, it is unknown how such structures came into existence. Some scholars speculate that the cave horrors must have built them, and indeed some of the horrors do bear vaguely humanoid anatomy, but the current scientific understanding is that cave horrors are sub-sentient creatures, more akin to territorial animals than to any sort of secret underground civilization. Further study on the matter is made difficult by the sheer peril of venturing too deep into the cave horrors’ domain.

Encountered by the party in the Harbor Ward, this 15-foot-tall abomination resembled a haphazard, vaguely humanoid assortment of machinery, pipes, rebar, earth and clay. In place of a head, it bore a twisting rubbery tube that emitted a blinding light, which seemed to carry various magical properties. Rather than walk, it hovered just above the ground, and a strange ethereal glow poured forth from its entire body like vapor off of dry ice.
